Founded in 2017, the Botanical Photography Group brings together Friends who share a love of photography and a passion for capturing the beauty of plants, gardens, and the natural world. The group offers a welcoming and inspiring space to develop technical skills, creative vision, and confidence in botanical photography.

Around 20 regular photographers take part, representing a wide range of experience levels, from enthusiastic beginners to highly skilled photographers. Members generously share their knowledge through relaxed discussions, hands-on workshops, and occasional guest speakers, creating a supportive and enjoyable learning environment.

Meetings are informal and friendly with Friends warmly encouraged to come along and experience a few sessions and immerse yourself in what the Group has to offer!  The Group meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon, usually in the Goodman Building, Hackney Road, Adelaide Botanic Garden and often on location for photo shoots at various inspiring sites.

A gold coin donation at meetings helps the Group cover morning tea costs for attendees. There is no fee to join the Group; however, membership of the Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide (FBGA) is required, and participants must be 18 years or older. 

The photographs created by Group members play an important role in supporting the Botanic Gardens, contributing to fundraising through the production and sale of the popular annual Friends Calendar, greeting cards, and other merchandise available from the North Lodge Gift Shop.
